I have been working with the web since 1996. My background before then was as a traditional graphic designer; exposing me to corporate, packaging and publication design.

Early on I decided that a visual designer without a full understanding of technical execution was at a disadvantage; much like a print designer who doesn't understand paper or printing. I maintain that to design a system one must understand the technologies. The most elegant interfaces and positive user experiences come from a successful desegregation of design and medium. To that end I have learned several programming technologies and become very versed in Flash and HTML, adept at ASP, SQL and working on becoming fluent in several other technologies.

This unique tact has allowed me to visually design, info-design and execute from start to finish such projects as:

• a clean and clear shopping experience
• engaging yet non-intrusive Flash sites
• dynamic and easy-to-use administration systems
• database-driven sites with multiple collaborators
• order-taking, inventory-tracking and fulfillment systems
• cost-comparison models

While the above at first glance may initially seem have little to do with visual design, I contend that the experience is as important a factor as the applied graphic face. I believe that the coupling of excellent aesthetics and design that encompasses the entire system is what has consistently won awards for both design and technical applications.

Despite all this heady stuff, I play well with others and believe that someone who claims to know it all is an idiot.
